Maxine Chernoff has published three books of short stories, as well as the novels, Plain Grief, American Heaven, and A Boy in Winter. Her most recent books are the story collection Some of Her Friends That Year (Coffee House Press) and the poetry collections World and Evolution of the Bridge: Selected Prose Poems (Salt Publications) and Among the Names (Apogee Press). Paul Hoover has published eleven books of poetry including the forthcoming Poems in Spanish (Omnidawn, 2005) and Edge and Fold (Apogee, 2006). His collection of critical essays, Fables of Representation, was published in 2004 in the Poets on Poetry series of University of Michigan Press . He is also editor of the Norton anthology Postmodern American Poetry. He won the Jerome J. Shestack Award for the best poetry to appear in American Poetry Review in 2002. He is currently Distinguished Visiting Professor of Creative Writing at San Francisco State University . |
